Publishers Weekly selected The Middlesteins as their “Pick of the Week” and also gave it a starred review, calling it a, “wonderfully messy and layered family portrait.” Download the review here. Thanks P-Dubs!

Two amazing foreign publishers have secured rights to THE MIDDLESTEINS. In Taiwan, Amygdala will be publishing THE MIDDLESTEINS sometime next year, and in the UK, Serpents Tail will publish the book in Spring 2013. Awesome.

New NY Times Column + The Middlesteins Pre-order

Jami has a new piece up on NYTimes.com: “No, I’m the Narrator.” Also THE MIDDLESTEINS is now available for pre-order at WORD Brooklyn and also on Amazon and BN.com.

Gorgeous Book Cover + More Internet Presence

For some reason, Jami has a tumblr now. It is here. Also, while there, check out the new book cover for her forthcoming novel THE MIDDLESTEINS. It is bold and brilliant.

Some Press, an Essay, a Winter Break

Jami was pleased to be a part of the Conde Nast Traveler’s “A Scene Grows in Brooklyn” article. Also, Brooklyn Daily named her one of “Twelve to Watch in 2012″. And finally, she happily (and yet, sadly) wrote about the Occupy Wall Street Library for Salon. Currently she’s in New Orleans for two months, where it is much sunnier than Brooklyn.

Essays and Interviews, Out There on the Internet

Jami’s published a bunch of essays and interviews, which you can find online this very second. Check out these essays for The New York Times Townie column: One Dark Night in My Neighborhood and A Shelf-Obsessed Writer. Plus she wrote about crying babies living next door for Babble, and has interviewed a bunch of writers about all things aural for emusic, including Kate Christensen and Elissa Schappell. Go read ‘em! What else were you going to do today?

New Book Deal

Super exciting news: Jami’s fourth book, THE MIDDLESTEINS, has been sold to Grand Central Publishing!  It’s about a Midwestern Jewish family.  A nice, smart lady named Helen Atsma is going to edit it.  It’s going to come out in 2012. And now you know everything.

The Melting Season Paperback is Out

Head on down to your favorite independent bookstore and get one of those suckers. The new cover is awesome! WORD Brooklyn, which is Jami’s favorite bookstore, will be selling autographed copies. Order one here.

Two Blog Awards and One Novel Excerpt

Jami’s bizarre bike theft story has won an award from the Village Voice for the best blog post of the year. Not to be outdone in the made-up award category, Jewcy has dubbed Jami the Jewish Literary Vigilante of the Year. Back in the real(ish) world, Spork has published an excerpt of the book she has been working on in 2010, and you can read that here.
